hey all , just wandering how much everyone is hurting in the biz...I run a restaurant attached to a botique hotel so im luckier than most, but business is down from last year. catering and banquettes down 40% from last year ,alacart service down 10%.Im worried that im not going to have that big of a bonus this year..so how is everyone else doing?

Mon, December 29, 2008 - 11:08 PMI work in a fairly large hotel. We host banquets, have a restaurant and bar and then of course room service. It's definitely slower than it should be but we're not hurting too bad .. yet..

Sun, January 18, 2009 - 11:58 AMok so just got my numbers for the holidays..from oct to current -catering and banquettes down 100,000 restaurant down 25,000 room sevice up 15,000. on PEO report selling mostly safe stuff ,ie filets ,so because of the low profit margin on filets my cost is 30%.any body else get numbers? -

I have been a personal/private chef for the past 12 years and I've been booked to the point of not advertising at all for the past year. All word of mouth. I have had to cut down on some of the fund-raisers for local non-profits that I used to be so much a part of, but otherwise my bottom line is still at roughly the same ratio as it was before 'the recession'.

Fri, February 6, 2009 - 10:14 AMPhilip, I can see how picking up new clients may have taken a serious hit in the past few months. I'm just in a good, stable place with my long term clients (and everyday I hope and *pray* that they'll be able to continue to afford my services). So far so good. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed though.
